Trump Trial Date For January 6 Events Is Set. One Day Before Super Tuesday

Donald Trump is currently under indictment for over 100 felonies in four different jurisdictions (state courts in New York and Georgia and federal courts in Southern Florida and Washington DC). This means four different trials under four judges with different start dates and important differences in procedure and law.

Of course, Trump is running for president at the same time and needs degrees of freedom to campaign, do fundraising, appear in the media, and work on strategy with his advisors. The prosecutors don’t care. They are all Democrat apparatchiks and their real goal is to make it impossible for Trump to run an effective campaign. Failing that, they hope to get a conviction and put him behind bars pending appeal.

U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan (appointed by Barack Obama), set a trial date of March 4, 2024, for Trump’s trial in Washington related to the January 6 events. Given the complexity of events that day including infiltration of the protest by FBI agents, and Nancy Pelosi’s refusal to use National Guard protection after Trump requested, it would seem that considerably more time should be allowed to give the defense time to conduct discovery, look at FBI videotapes, interview witnesses, and much more.

But the March 4 date is no accident. The next day, March 5, is the so-called Super Tuesday primary where 16 states and territories hold primary elections or caucuses. A substantial portion of all convention delegates are selected on that day.

Super Tuesday will often make or break a candidacy after smaller primaries or caucuses in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. The specter of Trump appearing in criminal court in Washington DC the day before the biggest primary election day of the year is exactly what the Democrats wanted.

Now, thanks to an Obama judge, they’ve got it. This entire bogus prosecution of Trump is scripted like a Broadway show. It remains to be seen whether it ends up as a comedy or a tragedy. Possibly both.
