The Total Surveillance State Is Here. It Begins With a Tax Bill
We’ve issued many warnings about central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) and their potential use as surveillance tools to track what you are buying, what charitable contributions you make, what political contributions you make, what religion you follow, and much more.
Processing this information using artificial intelligence tools, it is possible to develop a profile of you that can be used by progressives to determine if you are an “enemy of the people” as Joe Biden described his opponents in his Philadelphia speech last September. From there, it’s a short hop to visits from the IRS and FBI if Biden determines you are not with his progressive programs.
Now we learn that even more tools are being developed to put you under surveillance in addition to CBDCs.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan was faced with the problem that drivers of electronic vehicles (EVs) do not pay gasoline taxes, which are used to maintain highways. Whitmer’s solution is to use GPS transponders to track the movement of individual EVs. Based on that, the miles driven could be computed and the owners would be sent a bill for the equivalent of the gasoline tax based on mileage.
No sooner had this idea been presented, government bureaucrats began thinking of other ways to use the surveillance technique. It could be used on all cars, EVs and internal combustion engines, to send speeding tickets, and to impose so-called congestion pricing (extra charges for driving in urban areas at certain hours).
Insurance companies could use the data to impose higher costs on drivers with higher average speeds. Public health officials could use automobile travel information to impose lockdowns during phony pandemics and arrest those who exercise their freedom of the road and refuse to obey the lockdown.
This list of surveillance goals and privacy invasions goes on. These neo-fascist techniques will have to be fought at the ballot box and perhaps in the courts on Constitutional grounds.
Another solution will be to hang onto your old cars that don’t have this new technology. I have a 15-year-old sports coupe with 227,000 miles, and a 17-year-old Jeep with 210,000 miles. Both vehicles run fine. I’m going to keep them running until people like Gretchen Whitmer just go away and leave the rest of us alone.
