The Short Path to World War III

Ukraine is losing badly to Russia in the ongoing war. The Russians have broken through Ukrainian lines in central Donbass and are now capturing village after village while encircling cities that will soon be captured as well.

The Ukrainians are almost out of ammo, are defenseless against Russian air power, and have exhausted their elite units and reserves while suffering almost 500,000 killed in action. The Russians may soon be in a position to take Kharkiv and Odessa, push to the Dnipro River and effectively divide Ukraine in half with several of the largest cities, the entire seacoast and most of the natural and industrial resources in Russian hands.

What can Ukraine do about this? The can’t do anything on their own, but their hope is to lure NATO into the fight and expand the war to NATO versus Russia instead of just Ukraine versus Russia.

Their way of doing this is to have NATO send “trainers” and “technical advisors” into Ukraine to help the Ukrainian Armed Forces prepare armies from new recruits and to handle sophisticated weapons. Of course, the Russians would kill such enemies, which would result in NATO sending in combat troops. That’s a short path to World War III and nuclear war.

The use of trainers and advisors was exactly how the U.S. escalated during the War in Vietnam. Once that failed, U.S. troops were sent in and eventually reached over 500,000 combat troops.

Ukraine and Zelensky may see this as Ukraine’s only hope to beat Russia. Loyal Americans should see it as a deadly trap that will certainly result in dead Americans and could result in an all-out nuclear war.

Cooler heads should prevail. Unfortunately, those cooler heads cannot be found in Kiev or the White House today.
