More Evidence Climate Alarmists Are Losing and EVs Are on The Way Out

I have been a relentless critic of the Green New Scam and the climate alarmists. (By the way, Trump recently picked up our phrase “Green New Scam” on the campaign train. Welcome aboard, Mr. President!)

Everything about climate alarmism is phony, including the fake science, the flawed models, and the consistently wrong predictions. Still, it is a powerful narrative that is wasting trillions of dollars worldwide on electronic vehicle (EV) subsidies, windmills that don’t work, solar modules that cannot power the grid, and other hare-brained schemes, including getting rid of your natural gas stoves.

The flaws in climate alarmism are clear, but the path to defeating it in terms of public policy is far less clear. Now, things are starting to change, and there’s actually some good news. There’s increasing evidence that everyday Americans and citizens around the world understand the scam and are pushing back.

The latest involves the Hertz car rental company. The story begins with the fact that the U.S. government pushed General Motors and Ford Motor Company to manufacture EVs, including pickup versions of the Ford F-150, the most popular vehicle in the U.S. The manufacturers were in no position to refuse after they had all been bailed out with taxpayer money in the 2008-2009 global financial crisis.

Of course, Tesla was already making EVs with U.S. taxpayer subsidies. Car rental companies like Hertz jumped on the bandwagon and began stuffing their rental fleets with EVs and offering discounts. (I know because I travel a lot and rent from Hertz. When you open the website, they always put EVs in your face, and I have to scroll through all of that to get to the real cars).

There was only one problem with the government’s master plan of coercion and subsidies. Nobody wanted the EVs!

They’re really just glorified golf carts. They don’t go as long on a charge as advertised, the wait at the charging stations can last hours (not because of the chargers but because you’ll probably be the third or fourth car in line), repairs are difficult, and the resale values are in the cellar because the batteries only last about 7 years and replacements cost $25,000. Who wants to buy a used EV if you’ll soon have to shell out another $25,000 for the battery?

Hertz is now dumping one-third of its EV fleet and will be using the proceeds to buy new internal combustion engine (ICE) cars. Finally, there’s some common sense when it comes to EVs and the climate scam. Let’s hope it spreads.
