Looks Like the Hunter Biden Cover-Up Is Now Complete

It has been well-known for years that President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, engaged in a long string of crimes apparently including hard drug use, weapons violations, bribery, tax evasion, engaging with prostitutes, and worse. This was all well documented in the notorious laptop-from-Hell that Hunter left at a computer repair shop, failed to retrieve, and the content of which was ultimately released to the media after having been in the hands of the FBI for years.

Hunter Biden’s crimes were not limited to personal behavior, but involved selling access to Joe Biden to Chinese, Russian, and Ukrainian interests for millions of dollars in payoffs and sweetheart deals. In short, Hunter’s behavior implicated Joe Biden in impeachable high crimes.

As the evidence continued to pour out, this situation went from being a distraction to being a threat to Joe Biden’s presidential campaign. Something had to be done with Hunter to clear the decks of the allegations without hurting the Biden campaign or implicating the Big Guy.

The FBI and Department of Justice cooperated in this cover-up. They sat on the evidence for years until the statute of limitations had run out on the most serious crimes. They refused to give the U.S. Attorney in Delaware authority to launch investigations in California and other states where the actual crimes had been committed and juries might have been more balanced than any Delaware jury.

Finally, the case was settled with two misdemeanor tax charges (the facts would have supported felony charges) and a so-called “diversion” program on the gun charges that will later be expunged from the record. This is a laughable slap on the wrist for crimes that would have put others behind bars for years.

And on the same day that the plea deal on these minor charges was announced, Hunter settled a child support case with an estranged lover who bore his daughter.

These combined resolutions take Hunter Biden out of the headlines without directly damaging Joe Biden. This is what Jonathan Turley, a distinguished legal scholar (and Democrat) refers to as a “controlled demolition.”

Unfortunately for Joe Biden, this slap on the wrist for Hunter won’t end his problems. Several congressional committees are looking at the bribery and money laundering operations and may impeach Biden in the coming months.

In the meantime, the Hunter Biden deal stands as a symbol of a two-tiered justice system in which Biden crimes are not prosecuted while alleged Trump crimes are pursued to the ends of the earth. The media may ignore this disparity, but the American people certainly notice.
