Have You Bought a Bible Lately? Then You’re Under FBI Surveillance.

Here’s the latest on FBI efforts to weaponize the justice system and put conservatives under constant government surveillance: The FBI and U.S. Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) recently sent letters to U.S. banks.

They asked the banks to identify and provide a list to the government of customers using Zelle, Venmo, and similar payment channels who mentioned “MAGA,” or “Trump” in their messages. They also asked for details on customer bookstore purchases of “religious” articles, including Bibles.

Finally, they asked for details on customers shopping at Cabela’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods or Bass Pro Shops, presumably on the view that those are places to buy guns and ammo.

Several points: This FBI activity is a clear-cut violation of the First Amendment (free speech, freedom of religion), Second Amendment (right to bear arms), and the Fourth Amendment (no unreasonable search and seizure). It is not a crime to write MAGA, and there is no reasonable basis for suspecting a crime, and therefore no right to get the information without a warrant, which requires a judge.

Any judge would likely reject the warrant request since there’s no probable cause. This is an obvious case of profiling that may well involve AI. In this case, buying a MAGA hat was enough to be put you under surveillance because you have been profiled as “an enemy of the people” by Biden’s definition given in his Philadelphia speech of September 2022, the one with the Nazi-style blood red lighting.

Two years ago, we predicted this kind of surveillance would arise with the use of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) since the government would have the financial records and would not have to go to the banks or get a warrant.

It now looks like the FBI is not waiting for CBDCs. They’re just grabbing the same personal information directly from the banks.
