FBI Conducts An Illegal Search and Then Steals The Victim’s Property
We know that the investigation and prosecution of those who participated in the January 6, 2021 protest on Capitol Hill following Trump’s loss in the 2020 election has been one of the great miscarriages of justice in history.
A small number of the participants did break windows and doors and caused some property damage and they should be prosecuted as the law allows, although most of those offenses were minor. The rest (over 500) were mostly just trespassers who wandered around the Capitol building for a few hours before leaving peacefully. Prosecution for that is at most a misdemeanor (there are even more minor charges called violations that are non-criminal). In situations where the participant had no prior criminal record the result would typically be a small fine and no incarceration.
That’s not what happened. The FBI unleased the greatest manhunt in history. About 500 of the riot participants were tracked down, arrested, extradited to Washington DC and placed in the city jail which is rat-infested and filthy.
Many were denied medical treatment or medicines. Many were placed in solitary confinement, which severely impaired their mental health. Most were denied bail and held in “pre-trial detention” which amounts to imprisonment without conviction. Some died in prison. Almost all were denied a speedy trial as is required under the U.S. Constitution.
One protestor, Ashli Babbitt, an unarmed veteran, was shot at point blank range and killed by a reckless Capitol Police officer. The crowd was infiltrated by FBI undercover agents who egged on the protestors and promoted the violence. There’s a lot more to the story but the evidence is clear that the entire so-called riot was a set-up to frame Donald Trump as an “insurrectionist” and deny him the ability to hold office in future.
And what about those FBI agents? It turns out that while they were raiding the homes of innocent protestors and serving subpoenas, they were busy stealing valuables from the victim’s homes. This story describes how FBI agent Nicholas Williams stole silver bars from one protestor who was part of an Asians for Trump group at the Capitol. Williams also stole cash from several other homes that he raided.
It’s bad enough that the FBI was involved in a dragnet of innocent protestors and those who merely walked around the Capitol. Now we learn that they are petty thieves also. Perhaps that’s no surprise given the corruption of the bureau from top to bottom.
