Democrats Keep Attacking Project 2025. Here’s The Real Trump Playbook.

You’ve probably heard of “Project 2025.” It includes a 900-page document full of policy positions for a new administration. That’s not the official name of the publication, which is called Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise, published in April 2023, but Project 2025 is a good shorthand name for a broader effort to outline policies for the next president.

As the name implies, it’s aimed at a successful Republican candidate; Democrats probably disagree with every word in the 900-pages and won’t pursue any of it. Mandate for Leadership was not written by a single individual or even a small team.

The Heritage Foundation, which managed Project 2025, invited scholars from hundreds of institutions around the country including the Claremont Institute, the Hoover Institution, and many others to make contributions that were then edited into the finished project. It is broken down by government agencies including cabinet level departments and independent agencies such as the SEC and the Federal Reserve and includes extensive recommendations for reform and improvement at those agencies consistent with conservative principles.

This is not an official Trump campaign document, and the Trump campaign had no role in the preparation of Mandate for Leadership although it is true that many Trump supporters were among the contributors in capacities other than the official campaign.

Of course, any document with that much advice for conservatives is red meat for the Democratic attack dogs Democrats have already picked through the report and are screaming about contents that supposedly destroy the Deep State and the many administrative mandates that Democrats have forced on the American people. Some of the proposals, such as securing the border and deporting illegal immigrants starting with criminals and terrorists, and unpopular with Democrats who favor open borders.

Project 2025 calls for eliminating the Department of Education, an excellent idea but one that drives Democrats nuts. Of course, being Democrats they can’t help lying about the contents.

Dems claim that Project 2025 would eliminate Social Security and Medicare when there’s not one word in the document that suggests any such thing. The Democrat view is who cares about truth when you can create a bogeyman to scare voters into supporting you.

Trump has had to dissociate himself and his campaign from Project 2025 in order to dodge the lying Democrat attacks. That’s smart politics on Trump’s part but don’t dismiss Project 2025 just because Trump is distancing himself.

There’s a lot there. Not all of it is in line with Trump’s views and not all of it will be enacted in any case. But for a handbook on what to expect in a second Trump term it’s a good place to start.
