Democrats Are Haunted by The Specter of RFK Jr.

In the broad sweep of political history, few names are more closely linked to the Democrat party than Kennedy.

Joseph P. Kennedy was named by FDR as the first head of the SEC and later appointed ambassador to the UK. John F. Kennedy was a United States senator and later elected president of the United States. Robert F. Kennedy was U.S. Attorney General, then a U.S. senator from New York, and was a candidate for president in 1968. Tragically, both John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy were assassinated in 1963 and 1968, respectively.

Many other members of the Kennedy family have engaged in public service, including President Kennedy’s daughter Caroline, who was ambassador to Japan and now serves as ambassador to Australia. Other Kennedys have been elected to Congress.

So, when Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (RFK Jr.) announced he was running for nomination as president on the Democratic ticket, it was a kind of a homecoming. He had every reason to believe he would find some support among Democrats despite Joe Biden’s dominant position as an incumbent president.

Turns out, he could not have been more wrong.

The problems began when the Democrats tried to push the New Hampshire primary to the #2 position in the primary calendar in favor of South Carolina, which is reliable Biden territory. New Hampshire decided to hold the #1 primary anyway and RFK Jr. entered that race at which point the Democrats said the vote wouldn’t count and any delegates awarded would not be seated. Then they took steps to disqualify his efforts in other states.

Eventually, RFK Jr. saw he wasn’t welcome in the Democrat Party and chose to run as an independent. The Biden White House showed what a bitter and angry low-life Biden is by denying RFK Jr. Secret Service protection, despite two relatives having been assassinated and despite the fact that he clearly qualified for it.

Despite these underhanded efforts, RFK Jr. may have the last laugh. His campaign is going well, he has ample funds, and he has been successful in his efforts to get on the ballot in a number of key swing states.

He is still a longshot to win the White House, but his presence on the ballot could tip some states toward Trump and cause Biden to lose the race. What goes around, comes around in politics as well as life.
