Biden Uses $400,000 Sidewinder Missile to Shoot Down $12 Hobby Balloon
We all know about the high-altitude Chinese spy balloon that traveled the length of the U.S. and Canada from Alaska to South Carolina before Joe Biden finally had the nerve to shoot it down. By then, the damage had been done.
The balloon collected enormous amounts of data and relayed it back to China. The fact that the U.S. may have been watching the balloon and intercepting its electronic signals does not alter the fact that the signals were being sent and China gathered the intelligence.
Biden’s blasé attitude about the whole affair was based on a view that the Chinese have high-tech satellites that can gather far more intelligence than the balloon, which made the balloon irrelevant or redundant. That’s a lie.
It’s true that satellites are powerful and can read the license plate on a car from outer space. There was certainly some overlap between the capabilities of the balloon and those of satellites. Still, what matters is that the systems are different.
Even a small amount of intel from the balloon that a satellite might not have is another piece of the big picture mosaic at the heart of intelligence analysis. The Chinese would not have sent the balloon in the first place if there wasn’t some added intel capability compared to a satellite.
After this gross incompetence, the Biden administration moved to outright comedy. Biden went on a shooting spree and shot down three more balloons in the days following the Chinese balloon destruction.
Now it comes to light that one of the balloons likely belonged to a hobby club in Illinois called the Northern Illinois Bottlecap Balloon Brigade. It was a model that can be purchased for as low as $12.00. It flew at a relatively low altitude (about 38,000 feet) and had a GPS transponder so the club members could follow its path.
Biden sent an F-22 Raptor fighter jet (the most sophisticated and expensive in the world) to fire a sidewinder missile at the $12.00 hobby balloon. The F-22 missed the target!
Another sidewinder missile was fired, and on the second try, the hobby club balloon was destroyed. The club members later reported that their hobby balloon was “missing in action.” By the way, the sidewinder missiles cost about $400,000 each.
So, after allowing a Chinese spy balloon to traverse the United States, Biden decides to fire almost a million dollars of missiles to shoot down a toy. Nice going, Joe!
I’m sure the Chinese are staying up late at night to assess this strategy. They’re most likely laughing out loud at Biden’s incompetence.
