Biden, Facebook, And Google Tried to Bury the Truth. But It Wins in The End.

The censorship that we all endured from 2020 to 2022 during the pandemic was despicable in two respects.

In the first place, information providers like Google, Facebook and YouTube should be trying to earn our trust with accurate and balanced information. Instead, they abused that trust by shutting down debate, deplatforming critics and analysts with good information, and sticking to a party line of lies.

In the second place, they did all of this in cooperation with the U.S. government. That makes the censorship a violation of the First Amendment in addition to a violation of our trust.

The list of lies is a long one. The social media companies said the vaccines worked to stop infection and to stop the spread of the COVID virus. Both lies. They said masks work to stop the spread – they don’t. They supported school lockdowns when there are practically zero cases of elementary school children getting COVID.

They promoted lockdowns when it has been clear for decades that lockdowns don’t work. They insisted on social distancing when there’s no evidence that social distancing can stop an airborne respiratory virus. The entire concept of social distancing was invented out of thin air by a nineteenth-century scientist who admitted he had no proof that it worked.

Legitimate critics of these bizarre and destructive policies such as Jay Bhattacharya, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Dr. Robert Malone, and Alex Berenson were kicked off of social media channels and had their videos blocked on YouTube.

Now we learn that the censorship was even worse than we knew at the time. The U.S. government opened secret back channels to the social media giants so they could specifically target those individuals who were doing the most to expose the government’s lies.

Much of this illegal censorship has now been revealed as the result of a lawsuit filed by Jay Bhattacharya, as reported here. A victory in the lawsuit is a vindication for Bhattacharya and it’s good that the truth is finally emerging. But no significant damages have been awarded, no senior executives at Facebook or Google have been terminated, and no one in the social media community has apologized (except Twitter, now X, after it was taken over by Elon Musk).

So, there has been exposure of the censorship but no real accountability for the lies. This begs the question: what will happen in the next pandemic, war, or natural disaster? Will social media again kowtow to the government and lie to the American people? Unfortunately, as of now it appears the answer is yes.
