Biden Creates a New Regulation to Make It Harder to Stop Regulation

The Deep State is real. It’s not a conspiracy behind closed doors. It’s out in the open and just a fact of life in Washington DC.

The Deep State consists of thousands of high-level and mid-level bureaucrats whom no one has ever heard of working at countless agencies that no one has ever heard of either. They are ideologically in line with radical progressives. You won’t see them at protests or on the evening news. They sit at their desks, dream up ways to limit your choices and make your life more difficult, and then write regulations to implement their ideological game plan.

There’s a publication called the Plum Book that’s a directory of over 7,000 Federal bureaucratic jobs that the president can appoint without competition or normal Civil Service restrictions.

When Obama was elected, his team led by Valerie Jarrett had names picked in advance for the most important of those jobs. In turn, those appointees could be relied upon to pick subordinates who would toe the party line when it came to radical progressive policies.

When Trump was elected, he was completely incompetent at the same task. He didn’t know Washington and had never heard of the Plum Book. Trump believed he could just fire anyone who didn’t agree with him. That’s ridiculous; everyone in Washington knows you can’t fire Civil Service employees easily and the press will rain fire on you if you try.

The key is to appoint reliable people in the first place. Trump was so incompetent that he appointed Chris Christie as his transition manager, in theory the person who handles appointments. Christie didn’t even think Trump would win and made no preparations. Worse yet, Christie put Jared Kushner’s father behind bars.

Kushner is Trump’s son-in-law and had an office in the White House. The entire appointment process fell apart. As a result, not only did Trump not get good appointees, but he was also stuck with Obama’s appointees who sabotaged him from day one.

How’s Biden doing in this bureaucratic process? He seems much more capable than Trump.

As reported in this article, Biden just signed an executive order that exempts many new regulatory processes from the usual scrutiny of cost benefit analysis and public notice requirements. Now the Deep State can do their work while making it more difficult for the public to know what they’re doing in the first place.

Obama was a master at constructing the Deep State. Trump was incompetent at dismantling it. Biden is now following the Obama playbook and giving the Deep State even more cover.

If Trump does get elected again, it will be too late to save the country from the bureaucrats. Trump had his chance, and he blew it. Biden is doubling down.
