Before We Deal with New Democrat Lies, Let’s Remember the Old Ones

We’re immersed in a sea of Democratic lies at the moment. Kamala Harris says inflation was high when Trump left office in 2020. That’s false. She says encounters at the border are fewer now than they were at the end of the Trump administration. That’s not only false, it’s ridiculous.

Her campaign surrogates claim that Trump called the neo-Nazis in Charlottesville, Virginia “good people.” Another lie. When Trump used that phrase, he explicitly excluded the neo-Nazi and other racist protestors.

Of course, the Democrats ignore that context. The Democrats rely on the fact that the media won’t call them out and voters’ memories are short in order to get away with this. One should expect that the barrage of falsehoods will continue up to Election Day and likely beyond if Trump wins and the Democrats try to disqualify his victory under the claim of “insurrectionist” on January 6, 2025.

Before we move on with this dark parade, it’s useful to recall the lies in the 2020 campaign and to understand that this is standard operating procedure for the Democrats and nothing new. In that regard, the most egregious case in 2020 consisted of the 51 former senior U.S. intelligence officials who signed a letter just days before the 2020 election claiming that the Hunter Biden laptop information (which implicated Joe Biden in accepting bribes from Ukraine, Russia, China and Romania in exchange for political favors) had the “hallmarks of Russian disinformation.” In fact, the Hunter Biden laptop was authentic, and the FBI knew it at the time.

The letter of lies was issued to blunt the issue before the last Biden-Trump debate and Biden used it effectively. I’m embarrassed to say that I know a lot of the signatories personally including the ringleader Mike Morrell (former Acting Director of the CIA), Michael Hayden (former Director of the CIA and NSA), Tom Fingar (former Chair of the National Intelligence Council), John McLaughlin (former Deputy Director of the CIA) and several others.

In this column, Miranda Devine asks the most pertinent questions: Why have none of them apologized? And when will they be held accountable? Sadly, unless there is some accountability in a new Trump administration, we should simply expect this cascade of Democrat lies to continue.
