Another One Bites the Dust. Georgia Case Against Trump Delayed Again.

So much attention has been paid to Donald Trump’s trial and conviction in New York that the Georgia case has fallen off the radar screen.

Here’s a quick refresher: The Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis indicted Trump and 19 associates in a RICO case, alleging a broad conspiracy to interfere with the 2020 election. Fulton County includes the City of Atlanta and some surrounding towns. Fani Willis is a far-left Democrat prosecutor. Trump and his co-defendants were unlikely to get a fair trial or an unbiased jury in this heavily Democratic area.

Initially, this looked like the most dangerous of the four criminal cases facing Trump. Then the wheels came off.

Fani Willis hired her lover, Nathan Wade, to prosecute the case despite the fact that Wade had no experience in such complex and high-profile cases. Wade was paid almost $1 million of taxpayer money by Fani Willis, which he used to take exotic vacations with her. This sweetheart deal and de facto kickbacks violated legal ethics, state law, and common sense.

An investigation began and the trial judge ruled that Wade had to be kicked off the case. The Trump side appealed that ruling with a claim that the misconduct was so bad that the case should be dismissed or that Willis should be disqualified as prosecutor.

The Georgia appeals court just suspended the trial while they consider Trump’s motion and undertake their own examination of the ethics violations. The appeals court will hear arguments on the motions on October 20th.

This means the case cannot possibly proceed before the election and may actually be dismissed entirely because of the wrongdoing by the prosecutor. We’ll see what happens, but Fani Willis has bungled this case so badly it now poses no risk to Trump’s chances on Election Day.
