Another One Bites the Dust
Everyone (including Democrats) knows that Biden is decrepit, physically disabled, suffering from dementia, and prone to continual lies. The issue is not that he’s “too old”; that’s obvious. The issue is that he’s incapable of thinking straight, speaking clearly, or even finding his way off a stage.
He trips up and down the stairs and recites recent conversations with foreign leaders who died ten or twenty years ago. He said he recently spoke with François Mitterrand, the president of France who died in 1996. Then he said he recently spoke with Helmut Kohl, the German Chancellor who died in 1998. Well, at least Biden has one skill—he can speak to ghosts.
Biden also said he spoke to the president of Mexico about the Gaza war—he meant the president of Egypt. He said the U.S. was conducting air drops of food and humanitarian aid in Ukraine—he meant Gaza. These aren’t “gaffes,” as the media would have you believe—they are signs of dementia.
What can Democrats do? There’s a strong movement in the party to propose another candidate sometime between the end of the primary season in early June and the start of the Democrat national convention on August 19. This would require Biden to agree to step aside as the nominee (although he could remain as president so he can pardon the Biden Crime Family before he leaves office).
It’s not clear if Biden would agree, but if he does, it begs the next question—who would be Biden’s replacement? There is a long list, including Gavin Newsom, Gretchen Whitmer, Jay Pritzker, Jennifer Granholm, and Gina Raimondo.
Yet, there’s no doubt that Michelle Obama would be the most popular choice. She could be the first female president and would attract black voters who are now defecting to Trump. There’s only one problem: She’s out.
As reported here, Michelle Obama’s office contacted NBC News and informed them that she will not run for president in 2024. The Obamas have a highly disciplined communications operation. They know exactly how the process works. A story like this does not emerge on a whim.
Michelle has made her decision (although she did not shut the door on the 2028 race). Democrats will have to go back to Newsom and the rest – or just try to power through with Amtrak Joe.
