After Russia Hoax, Impeachments and Indictments, Trump Is Still Attacked
Donald Trump was put under investigation by the FBI before he was even elected president. There was no good reason for this. The investigation was simply an illegal effort to derail Trump and help Hillary Clinton.
Following his election, the FBI investigation continued and turned into the Russian Hoax. Again, there was not a single fact that supported the Russian Hoax narrative as numerous commissions and investigations have shown, but it continued anyway as a method to paralyze Trump in terms of policy and possible improved relations with Russia.
When the Russia scam ran out of steam, Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats ginned up two impeachments, both on flimsy charges and one that actually proceeded after Trump was no longer president. Both impeachments failed in the Senate, but they paralyzed the White House again as intended. Since then, Trump has been indicted on over 40 felony charges by both state and federal grand juries.
The New York State charges are so convoluted that even lawyers who are Trump detractors can’t make sense of them. The federal charges sound more serious, but are likely to be dismissed because of Trump’s power to declassify documents at will.
The horror stories repeated in the press are based on selective leaks. The real story will come out at trial. Meanwhile, two other grand juries, one in Georgia and a federal grand jury in Washington, are considering other charges, which are likely to be handed up soon.
Is that enough persecution for one person? I guess not.
As described in this story, activists around the country are trying to kick Trump off the ballot in key swings states based on Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution. Section 3 reads: “No person shall … hold any office, civil or military, under the United States … who, having previously taken an oath … as an officer of the United States … to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same.”
The activists claim that Trump engaged in an “insurrection” against the United States by his actions related to the January 6, 2021, riot on Capitol Hill and therefore is disqualified from “holding any office” including president. (Now you know why Nancy Pelosi and the Squad kept yelling “insurrection” after the January 6th disturbance. They know all about Section 3 and were setting the stage for disqualifying Trump from ever running for public office again).
This effort isn’t going anywhere. January 6 may have been a riot, but it was hardly an insurrection.
Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment was enacted after the Civil War to prevent former Confederate officials from becoming federal officials. The Civil War was a true insurrection, in fact. Over 600,000 Union and Confederate soldiers died in that war. Since the Civil War, the Section 3 insurrection clause has rarely been enforced and numerous amnesties were granted, including Robert E. Lee and Jefferson Davis.
January 6th was not an insurrection. But that won’t stop the Trump-haters from pursuing the matter.
The real goal is to create doubt, tie up Trump in litigation, and maybe get a favorable ruling from an anti-Trump judge here and there. Pity Trump. So far, he has never been convicted of anything in any forum, but his enemies keep trying.
If Trump is re-elected in 2024, let’s hope he pursues these lawfare clowns with as much vigor as they have pursued him. After all, they’re the ones actually trying to destroy the country, not Trump.
