A Trucker Convoy Is Headed To DC. Pelosi Is Putting Up Her Fence.

As if we didn’t have enough going on with pandemic aftermath, a collapsing economy, and a dangerous war in Ukraine, we now have a U.S. version of the Canadian Freedom Convoy.

I was in Canada during the Freedom Convoy there and followed it closely. It was non-violent (but noisy). It would have been easy to defuse the situation if Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had simply gone outside and met with the truckers, listened to their demands, and agreed to one or two of the more reasonable ones.

Actually, all of the demands were reasonable, but there’s always room for compromise. A bit of flexibility on Trudeau’s part would have ended the whole affair.

Instead, Trudeau acted like a coward, hid in a secure bunker, refused to meet with the truckers, and in the end unleashed Royal Canadian Mounted Police to trample protestors with horses, beat others with nightsticks, smashed windows, killed pets, froze bank accounts (and crypto accounts) not only of truckers but also supporters, and then confiscated the trucks.

Now the truckers are being held in jail without bail, they have no money to feed their families and they’ve lost their livelihoods because their trucks are gone. This is a classic Fascist response, which is not surprising because Trudeau is a Fascist at heart.

This article provides an update on the U.S. trucker convoy. This convoy left California in late February, but they plan to take a week to cross the country.

The U.S. organizers have learned a few lessons from Canada. They do not plan to go to downtown DC. Instead, they will circle the Capital on the Washington Beltway, I-495, and paralyze traffic into and around the city.

As a frequent traveler to DC, I can tell you traffic is horrible on a good day, so this tactic should work. Of course, this is all timed to coincide with Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address.

At a practical level, this convoy will further disrupt already broken supply chains. Let’s hope for the truckers’ sake that Biden does not use the same Fascist tactics as Trudeau.

Putin saw weakness in the White House and invaded Ukraine. Now, it looks like the truckers see the same weakness and are surrounding Washington. This will be one more event slowing the U.S. economy and sending stocks on a downward spiral.
