When Biden’s Fascists Attack Your Freedoms, They Start with Free Speech

There’s a reason the First Amendment comes first in the Bill of Rights. It guarantees free speech.

Without free speech, most of the other rights don’t matter. Free speech is what you use to criticize politicians, express your own opinions, point out bad policies and argue in favor of good ones. Of course, free speech is also used in bad faith to state falsehoods, spread rumors and promote noxious ideas. That’s the point.

When free speech is abused to state repugnant ideas, the solution is not to ban free speech. The solution is to use free speech to point out falsehoods and bad faith.

In today’s town square (including the mainstream media, social media and podcasts) the battle of ideas is fought out daily. In the end, the best ideas win because they’re the ones that get popular support and lead to election victories. Without free speech, your rights to religious freedom, trial by jury, and due process of law don’t mean much because you can’t openly express them or you don’t have recourse to law in the first place. Dictators and fascists understand this. That is why they always attack free speech first before leading the attack on your other freedoms.

Free speech is now under attack by the governments of the UK and the U.S. In the UK, the right of British subjects to speak out against illegal immigration and to support nationalism is being severely curtailed by the new left-wing Labour government. The UK has even threatened to jail U.S. citizens who express views about the riots there that the government deems “misinformation.” (By the way, when you see the term misinformation being used you can bet that it’s accurate information that the government happens not to like).

In the U.S., the attack on free speech begun in the Obama administration and carried forward in the Biden-Harris administration is getting worse all the time. The White House collaborated with Big Tech to censor truthful information about Hunter Biden, climate change, the pandemic and 2020 election fraud. Biden even set up an Orwellian “Ministry of Truth” to hunt down and block those who were telling the truth about government lies on vaccines and lockdowns.

Harris’s pick for VP, Tim Walz, even said, “There’s no guarantee to free speech on misinformation or hate speech…” He’s exactly wrong about that. There is a guarantee of all kinds of free speech under the First Amendment.

Of course, what Walz calls “misinformation” is actually truth and what he calls “hate speech” is simply speech he disagrees with. Harris and Walz are continuing the neo-fascist efforts of Obama and Biden to squash free speech. The only solution is to use free speech to fight back every day.
