CIA Bribed Its Own Analysts to Lie to Americans About the Pandemic

Saying the CIA lied about something is redundant. The CIA lies all the time. It’s what they do.

Denial and deception are among the main tasks of any intelligence agency. When you establish an intelligence community, you should expect nothing less.

Still, the National Security Act of 1947 (which created the CIA) made it explicit that the CIA should not spy on Americans (if there were traitors among Americans, it was the job of the FBI to root them out, not the CIA). The CIA was meant to conduct its operations overseas despite having a headquarters in Washington DC and later McLean, Virginia.

Today, lying is traditional but the targets are not. Evidence keeps emerging that the CIA now routinely lies to the American people and intervenes in domestic issues from elections to censorship and the pandemic.

Here’s the latest example of a rogue CIA. This article reveals that CIA analysts had reached the conclusion early in the pandemic that the virus (SARS-CoV-2) had emerged from a laboratory in Wuhan, China that was conducting gain-of-function experiments on lethal viruses under military supervision. Instead of alerting the American people, the CIA bribed its own analysts to hide the information.

This was done to support the “wet market” theory, which said that the virus came from exotic game (pangolins, bats, etc.) available in fresh meat markets near the lab (a process called zoonotic transfer). This was not done to protect the Chinese, but to cover up the fact that the United States was actually financing the Chinese research through grants offered by Anthony Fauci and Francis Collins, both of the National Institutes of Health.

So, we have the spectacle of the CIA bribing analysts to cover up wrongdoing by U.S. public health officials and lying to the American people about it while millions were dying from the virus.

The fact that this behavior is far outside the legal boundaries of the law that established the CIA should come as no surprise. When there’s no accountability and no oversight of spies, it should be expected that eventually those spies will turn their surveillance and propaganda techniques on everyday Americans.

The time has come to fire the CIA officials responsible, shrink the agency down to size, and return it to its original mission of gathering information overseas, conducting special operations, and offering policymakers the best possible analyses. No CIA would be better than one that turns its spies and weapons on the American people.
