Biden Is Coming for Your Gas Stove. He May End Up Getting Burned.
Observers are almost numb in dealing with the list of policies the Biden administration has used to destroy the oil and natural gas industry. You know the list yourself.
On his first week in office, Biden ended the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, banned new oil and gas exploration leases on federal lands, banned offshore drilling, and more. By August 2022, Biden had signed the Green New Scam legislation that authorized almost $1 trillion of subsidies and mandates to promote windmills, solar panels, and electric vehicles, which further handicapped oil and gas.
Biden’s financial sanctions in response to the War in Ukraine drove oil and gas prices to the highest levels since 2014. Climate alarmists welcomed higher gas prices at the pump because it made alternatives such as EVs seem more affordable. They didn’t care that hundreds of millions of Americans could barely afford food after paying the higher gas prices.
What’s more, Biden jeopardized national security by draining the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to the lowest level since the early 1980s. This kept gas prices low before the mid-term elections. Now Biden will have to refill the reserve with supplies still tight; this will drive gas prices up again, which is just where the greenies want them.
These developments made headlines, but relatively few understood that this was not accidental or bad luck. It was all orchestrated in the name of eliminating oil and natural gas. Thus, it may have come as a surprise when the Biden deep state operatives proposed getting rid of gas stoves, or at least reducing their efficiency so that they were no longer useful for restaurants, gourmets, or just everyday Americans trying to make the best-sauteed meals they could.
Chefs and homeowners love gas stoves (that includes me). An uproar began across the country, as described in this article.
The battle cry was: “Get out of my kitchen!” (By the way, federal bureaucrats have been in your bathroom and garage a long time specifying just what kind of toilets, showerheads, and car engines you could have. It’s interesting that the kitchen was where many Americans, at last, drew the line). The bureaucrats backed off slightly after the backlash, but you can be sure they’re devising technical workarounds that will have the same effect as the gas stove ban using indirect instead of direct methods.
My advice is to buy a new gas stove now while you still can. A good one should last for twenty years. Hopefully, by then, the climate alarmist nuts will have been driven from Washington, and common sense will return.
